Traffic Exchanges

Traffic Exchanges are listed in no particular Order

When joining a Traffic Exchange - often they have an offer before you proceed to the site - these offers are usually OTO (one time offers) and are never repeated. It is worth reading the full offer before dismissing it as it could be of benefit to take up the offer for upgraded and discounted advertising.

Some of the pro's of Surfing are:

  • Advertising - a way to get free traffic to your site
  • Research - It is a Great way to find out what is on offer on the Market

Some of the con's of Surfing are:

  • Time - if your time is valuable, then surfing could be wasting your time.
  • SEO - Google can see that the bounce rate on your site is high, therefore it will penalize your site for the high bounce rate.

Although the pro's are self explanatory, the con's need some additional information:

Time - if you are serious about doing Internet Marketing in any way, shape or form, you need to get serious about what you spend your time doing. I know, because I have been there and done that! I wasted too much time on trying to get the wrong kind of traffic to my sites, thinking all the while that I was building my sites up. Wrong... all I managed to do was waste a lot of precious time. Ok, if you want to get people to see your Offer... that is a totally different beast, PAY for the traffic, rather than waste your time - if you pay for the credits you won't have to surf... Which brings me to the next item on the agenda...

SEO - by now you understand the importance of SEO! If not, go and find the related articles and read up on them first.

Ok, if you think long and hard about it, one of the factors in Page Rank is your Bounce Rate. If Google see 1000's of hits to a site, all to the same page, and they are only on the site for say 10 - 30 seconds... what do you think is going through the mind of Google? Well, simple... Google will think that your page was "So Interesting" or "Not Relevent" to the 1000's of people who landed on it, that they left in a hurry... Ok, how do you overcome this?

I don't know if this is my way of thinking or whether this has been said before, but the best way to fix this is send the traffic to a page that doesn't matter when it comes to Page Rank, either a domain that you have set up for your landing pages which you can add a link to get the Targeted Traffic back to your site that does matter, or use the Free Blog type pages that you don't care about ranking with. (My option would be the first, rather than the latter, as Google will spider the Blogs faster than your dummy domain.
